A Fun Way To Spice Up Your Workout Routine

And Stay Motivated!

If you’re looking for a way to spice up your fitness routine and make working out a bit more exciting, why not try a Fitness Bingo Card? It’s a fun and interactive way to stay motivated, challenge yourself, and maybe even try some new exercises you wouldn’t normally do. You can play solo, with a workout buddy, or even turn it into a friendly competition. The goal is simple: complete a row, column, or diagonal of fitness challenges to get a bingo and reward yourself!

Below, I’ve come up with 30 fitness challenges to create a Fitness Bingo Card, along with some ideas for how you can customize your own and tips on how to make it a full experience.

Here’s How To Do It

Step 1: Create Your Fitness Bingo Card

The first thing you need is the bingo card itself. We have included a template for you here!

Customize your Bingo Card:

  • You can go for a 5x5 grid (25 challenges) or an easy 3x3 grid (9 challenges) depending on how much time or energy you want to dedicate to your workout.

  • Fill in each square with a fitness activity or challenge. You can use different types of exercises (cardio, strength, flexibility, etc.) or even include activities that are fun or new to you.

Step 2: Ideas for Fitness Bingo Challenges

Complete a Color Run

  • Why It’s Fun: A 5k race where you’re showered with vibrant colored powders while running or walking. It’s more about having fun than about speed.

  • How to Make It Happen: Find a local color run event or check sites like The Color Run for dates and locations near you.

2. Try Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP)

  • Why It’s Fun: Balance on water while paddling your way across a calm lake or beach. SUP offers an exciting challenge for your core and balance, and the view from the water is unbeatable.

  • How to Make It Happen: Rent a board at a local water sport shop, or take a beginner’s class at a nearby lake, river, or ocean.

3. Go Rock Climbing Outdoors

  • Why It’s Fun: Test your strength and problem-solving skills as you scale a real rock wall in nature. It’s not only a great workout, but it also provides a thrilling sense of accomplishment when you reach the top.

  • How to Make It Happen: Take an introductory rock climbing course at a climbing gym or outdoor adventure center. Look up nearby climbing spots with climbing clubs like Mountain Project.

4. Hike a Mountain Trail You’ve Never Done Before

  • Why It’s Fun: Discover new breathtaking views and challenge your endurance with a hike up a mountain or rugged terrain. Whether it's a local favorite or an undiscovered gem, the sense of accomplishment and natural beauty will make it worth the effort.

  • How to Make It Happen: Use apps like AllTrails to find new trails with varying difficulty levels. Pack your gear, grab a friend, and get hiking!

5. Run a Relay Race

  • Why It’s Fun: Get together with friends or family and participate in a team relay race. Whether it’s a marathon relay or a fun 5k, it’s an excellent way to bond while pushing yourself with short, intense bursts of speed.

  • How to Make It Happen: Look for upcoming relay races like Ragnar Relay or other local team events, and recruit a group to join in!

6. Try a New Water Sport (Wakeboarding, Windsurfing, or Kiteboarding)

  • Why It’s Fun: There’s nothing quite like catching the wind on a board. Whether you’re wakeboarding on a lake or windsurfing at the beach, it’s an exhilarating workout for your body and balance.

  • How to Make It Happen: Sign up for a beginner’s class at a local water sport school or community center. Look for rental shops that offer lessons and gear.

7. Go on a Zipline Adventure

  • Why It’s Fun: Fly through the trees and experience nature from a whole new perspective. Ziplining is a thrill that combines adrenaline with scenic views.

  • How to Make It Happen: Find a nearby zipline tour, or look for ziplining experiences offered at national parks or nature reserves.

8. Take a Fitness Class You’ve Never Tried

  • Why It’s Fun: From trampoline fitness to dance classes, yoga on paddleboards, or even aerial silks, trying new and quirky fitness classes can introduce you to new ways of moving your body while having fun.

  • How to Make It Happen: Check out local studios, community centers, or online platforms like ClassPass or MindBody to book a class you’ve always wanted to try.

9. Complete a Spartan Race or Obstacle Course Race

  • Why It’s Fun: A challenging obstacle course with mud pits, rope climbs, and plenty of other tests of strength and agility. Completing a Spartan Race or a similar obstacle course event can be an amazing achievement.

  • How to Make It Happen: Sign up for a local race like Spartan Race or Tough Mudder, and train for the event by incorporating strength and endurance workouts into your routine.

10. Try Snowshoeing or Cross-Country Skiing

  • Why It’s Fun: Embrace the winter months by trying snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. These low-impact winter activities provide an excellent cardio workout, and there’s nothing like gliding through a snowy forest.

  • How to Make It Happen: Rent snowshoes or cross-country skis at a local rental shop and find a nearby trail or national park.

11. Take Part in a "Donut Mile" or Food Themed Race

  • Why It’s Fun: This challenge involves eating donuts at every quarter-mile of a race (or any other fun food). The silliness makes it a lighthearted and fun fitness challenge, perfect for enjoying the outdoors and indulging in treats!

  • How to Make It Happen: Search for “food races” or fun local charity runs in your area. If you can’t find one, organize a small one with friends!

12. Complete a 30-Day Yoga Challenge

  • Why It’s Fun: Set a goal to practice yoga every day for 30 days. Explore different styles and see how your body improves in strength, flexibility, and mindfulness. It’s a great way to develop consistency and cultivate inner peace.

  • How to Make It Happen: Follow along with a 30-day yoga challenge on YouTube, or use an app like Daily Yoga or Yoga with Adriene to guide you.

13. Go on a Full Moon Night Hike

  • Why It’s Fun: Experience nature in a new way—by the light of the full moon! A night hike gives you the chance to enjoy the outdoors in peace and quiet with stunning moonlit views.

  • How to Make It Happen: Plan your hike around the full moon (use an app like Moon Phase to find the date) and make sure you bring a headlamp, good shoes, and plenty of water.

14. Attend a Local Sports Game (and Tailgate)

  • Why It’s Fun: Enjoy the energy of live sports by attending a local game. Whether it’s baseball, soccer, or basketball, it’s always a fun way to get active and enjoy some friendly competition from the stands!

  • How to Make It Happen: Look up the schedules of your local teams and plan a fun outing with friends or family to enjoy the atmosphere. Don't forget the tailgate party before!

15. Take a Longboard Ride Around the City

  • Why It’s Fun: Skateboarding isn’t just for kids! Longboarding is a fun, low-impact way to cruise around your city and explore different neighborhoods. It’s a workout for your legs and core while offering an exciting view of your surroundings.

  • How to Make It Happen: Rent or buy a longboard and plan a route around the city that takes you to cool spots. Make it a fitness and sightseeing day!

Step 3: How to Play Fitness Bingo

Now that you’ve created your bingo card, it’s time to start your workout and see how many challenges you can complete! Here are a few ways to play:

Solo Challenge:

  1. Pick a Card: Start with a full bingo card, and try to complete a row, column, or diagonal of exercises.

  2. Set a Timer: Set a timer for each exercise challenge. For example, do a 30-second plank or 1-minute run.

  3. Track Your Progress: As you complete each challenge, mark off the box! Aim for a bingo—5 in a row, column, or diagonal.

  4. Reward Yourself: After achieving your bingo, reward yourself! It could be a healthy treat, a relaxing bath, or a movie night.

Partner Play:

  1. Two-player Challenge: If you have a workout buddy, play against each other by completing challenges one by one.

  2. Relay Style: You and your partner alternate completing the challenges on the card. First one to complete a row wins.

  3. Timed Challenge: Set a timer for each challenge and race to complete as many as possible in the time limit.

Weekly Challenge:

  • Over Time: If you don’t have a whole day for a full triathlon-style workout, spread the challenges out over the week! You can aim to complete a row every day for 5 days and finish a full bingo card in one week.

  • Flexibility: You can even add “wild card” squares where you can substitute any challenge for one of your choosing (e.g., 10 minutes of yoga or a 1-mile walk).

Step 4: Customize Your Bingo Card

Make your Fitness Bingo truly unique and challenging by adding your own personal twists. Here are some ideas:

  • Themed Bingo Cards: Have a theme for the week! For example, you could create a HIIT Bingo with only high-intensity interval training challenges, or a Yoga Bingo with stretching and mobility-based challenges.

  • Level Up: If you want more intensity, include advanced exercises, like jumping lunges, weighted squats, or sprints.

  • Location-Based Bingo: If you have access to different spaces (like a park or beach), add challenges that can be done in those locations—think hill sprints or beach yoga.

  • Incorporate Other Elements: Use household items or fitness tools to make things interesting! For example, use a chair for tricep dips or a dumbbell for bicep curls. You can also add challenges like "do 30 seconds of jump rope" or "run a lap around the block."

Step 5: Celebrate Your Accomplishments

Once you've completed your Bingo card, it's time to celebrate! You’ve worked hard, and it’s essential to acknowledge your effort.

Celebration Ideas:

  1. Stretch and Cool Down: After completing your exercises, spend some time doing a cool-down stretch or meditation to reward your body for its hard work.

  2. Healthy Treats: Treat yourself to a post-workout smoothie, healthy snack, or even a homemade protein bar to refuel.

  3. Track Your Progress: Take a photo of your completed Bingo card to track your progress and inspire yourself for your next challenge.

  4. Repeat: Make it a regular habit! You can update the card weekly or add new challenges each time.
